School’s out, summer’s here and Malvern is brimming with things to do for all the family. From outdoor adventures to rainy-day activities, Malvern has it all but, sometimes, it can be tricky to know where to start looking.

To help you make the most of the holidays, we’ve compiled a list of our favourite family activities for summer 2022. And, if you’re fortunate enough to have a babysitter on hand, we’ve thrown in a couple of adult-only suggestions so that you can enjoy your time away from the little darlings and indulge in a little rest and recuperation.

Fun For All The Family…

1. Scale New Heights at Boundless Outdoors

If you’re the kind of family that loves adventure, then Boundless Outdoors has to be on your summer bucket list. From climbing ropes to zip wires, to assault courses and kayaking, Boundless Outdoors is the perfect place to get your adrenaline fix.

Their Malvern activity centre is located within the Worcestershire countryside and is an easy 6-minute drive from The Mount Pleasant Hotel. Activity days start at £40 and run between 9:30am-4:00pm. You can find all of their activities listed in full on their website, make an enquiry online to book your trip ahead.

2. Brave The Waves at Malvern Splash Leisure Complex

Following a recent £2 million revamp of the centre’s facilities, there is no better place to enjoy a fun-filled family pool day than at The Malvern Splash Leisure Complex. With a brand-new flume, wave machine, and interactive play features for little ones, there’s something for everyone. The pool is open 7 days a week but be sure to double-check opening hours if you’re planning to visit on a bank holiday. Family splash ticket prices start at £1.40.

Visitors love: Interactive splash area and friendly staff

3. Catch a Flick at a Local Cinema

Whilst we’ve been blessed with some delightful sunshine over the last month or so, it’s always useful to plan ahead for the possibility of the odd rainy day. After all, Britain doesn’t have the best track record when it comes to the weather. Shield from the rain with a good old-fashioned trip to the cinema.

There are a number of cinemas dotted around the Worcestershire area, including a Vue and an Odeon in Worcester itself and Malvern Theatres which is a 5-minute walk from our hotel in Malvern. For a full list of cinemas in Worcestershire, take a look here.

Visitors love: Great location and good choice of films (Malvern Theatres)

4. Discover The Grounds at Eastnor Castle

With an adventure playground, arboretum, historic castle and so much more to explore, Eastnor Castle is a fantastic place to enjoy the summer sunshine with the family. The castle itself is a grade I listed building, which is elaborately decorated and packed full of medieval art, armour and tapestries.

If you are planning to explore the inside of the castle as well as the grounds, there are helpful staff available in every room who can give you an insight into the castle’s history and its former occupants. Tickets are available on the website but do get snapped up quickly, so be sure to book in advance to guarantee a slot. All opening times are listed online.

Visitors love: Superb grounds and easy online booking

5. Visit a 17th Century Farmhouse and Mill at Weston’s Cider

Located 7 miles southwest of Malvern is the historic, family-owned business, Weston’s Cider. The business has been running since 1878 and was set up by Henry Weston who decided that he wanted to sell his cider directly to the public rather than through local merchants. Find out all about how Weston’s cider is made, from the apples they harvest to the mill where they are pressed and fermented.

Family tours are available for two adults and up to three children. To book your tickets, you can call or email the team here

Visitors love: Children’s play area and after tour tasting session

6. Explore The Marvellous Malvern Hills

A trip to Malvern is not complete without a walk up to the Malvern hills. From Great Malvern, you can climb the famous “99 steps” which are located at the back of Rosebank gardens and just next door to The Mount Pleasant Hotel. Once you reach the top, you will cross a road that takes you to a path through the woods and up to St Ann’s well. Stop for a well-deserved lunch break at St Ann’s well cafe which offers tasty meals along with homemade cakes and a variety of refreshments. Once you’ve refuelled, head on up to the Worcester Beacon for spectacular views in every direction.

Visitors love: Amazing panoramic views

For the Adults…

Just a 20-minute walk from The Mount Pleasant hotel is the award-winning Malvern Serenity treatment rooms. They offer a whole range of different beauty treatments as well as a variety of massage options.
